Some people are suggesting that Republicans need to get rid of the religous right. I disagree in that the religous right is not the only group republicans need to lose. They need to jettison the neo-cons the libertarians as well and the eighteen families that want the estate tax repealed.
The Republican coalition consists of groups that agree to vote for eachothers dad ideas and ultimately everything that comes out of the coalition is disasterous for the country and the other groups making up the coalition.
If the Republican party want to make a comeback they should try to find at least one idea that is not bad.
My humble apologies, have not been to your refreshing blog in some time. Good to see a post representing my Party, the anti-Republican Party.
In college my membership was in the Party Party. Later it was the Democrats, but recently it has just been the anti-republicans. They need to badly reinvent.
Family values that do not value but one type of family, saying the word God in school, and pormising to not raise my taxes, while spending my great grandsons tax dollars, does not get it done.
I wonder where the republicans are going next. My guess is that they will try to pander to the religous right and the no tax crowd for another few election cycles, but they are going to need to expand their base somehow to have national electoral success.
I don’t see what groups they can appeal to without offending some other part of their base.
