For the AFC right now it looks like New England is the favorite and if Randy Moss does not turn into Randy Moss they should stay that way.  With Indianapolis as the likely runner-up and maybe San Diego has a chance to crash the party.

The NFC is wide open, with maybe Dallas as a favorite, if TO doesn’t figure out a way to destroy the team. (Al here – I had to repost this picture)

  1. I’m long NFL.PATRIOTS from 10. This signal stealing nonsense, added to the Harrison HGH story, makes me feel like I’m rooting for the Yankees of the NFL though.

  2. John Rove says:

It is hard not to like Brady, wasn’t he Brian Gries’s back-up in college? Plus, the first super bowl they won was such an upset, it was almost like the Namath led jets in the sixties. I agree with wat you are saying though, they are almost becoming so good that they are fun to root against. Sort of like Tiger Woods, he is a good guy, but I get tired of watching him win tournaments, it is nice to see someone else win occasionally. I better stop talking like that or Al will pull my posting privleges.

    Take care

  3. Next week will reveal quite a bit. I’m not getting crazy at this point, as San Diego is better on both sides of the ball than the Jets. It’s really a blessing to get the Jets at the Meadowlands this early in the season, because from week 10 on, they’re always better than they are in the early weeks. Whether it’s Mangini or Edwards, that’s been true year after year.

That said…without Harrison or Seymour, they looked better than I’ve ever seen them. Wilfork was blowing up the offensive line on every single running play the Jets ran, and they were getting to Pennington all day long. On the offensive side of the ball, they didn’t seem to miss Daniel Graham at all. I love the double tight end sets w/ the single back…they had some triple TE sets as well, and if Moss is the receiver, with Watson’s ability to blast through a seam, it’s going to lead to a few BIG play-action nutcrackers before the year is out. In this game they didn’t have to reveal anything.

Welker in the slot…doesn’t get any better than that. The offensive line was near-perfect on the day. I’m a happy guy!
