Paul:
Well said
Cowher and Bellicheck have both had half a year to prepare…who do you think figured the other one out?
I despise Cower. He just looks like a jerk
Cower showed his team a highlight reel of their season the night before the AFC Championship game…very very dumb. They were never in that game.
Harrison went out on a cart…I shotguned a tall-boy in his honor. Sad day…
You definitely know how to watch football.
The eagles eeked it out, I hope the Patriots can make it for a rematch.
That TD pass to Gabriel was unexpected! I can’t wait until the stock market does what I want it to do for a couple years and I can afford DirectTV NFL Sunday Ticket!
The Pats are hanging in there…they’ve lost Harrison & Light already. Both teams are playing sloppy.
Pats did it.
Miami looks good. I always liked Frerotte, shanahan is not a personal genuis
Truth…pithy and powerfull! Shanahan’s shimmer is duller than before – always keeping in mind the home field advantage of that thin air, his boys lead the league every year in chop blocks – Jake the Snake is LOW-end. I keep thinking about Marvin Harrison making that catch in the playoffs in the middle of the field…surrounded by four Broncoes, and none of them think to down him.
Shanahan seems to have lost his edge, he is a good coach but without Elway and the aforementioned chop blocks he is slightly better than average, but not a mastermind.
I can’t for the life of me figure out why he hitched his trailor to Jake Plummer. On a great team, he’s a backup. You MUST protect the ball in the playoffs. It’s why I think he and Dante Culpepper are both dangerous in big games.
Shanahan thinks he can make anyone a great quarterback. I think it is more that a great quarterback can make anyone a great coach.
A cut and paste for the banned:
Parents of the Year
A group of parents stands up for logic and science instead of self-imposed ignorance, religious dogma masquerading as science, and general ooga-booga spirituality.
Eleven parents in the US state of Pennsylvania are taking their local school board to court in an attempt to protect the teaching of evolution.
The Dover Area School Board requires teachers to say evolution is a just a theory and is still being tested.
Teachers have to announce that Intelligent Design is an alternative explanation for the origin of life.
The parents and scientists argue that ID is a form of religious belief, which has no place in the science curriculum.
How dare these parents want their children to, ya know, understand how science works. I guess they’d rather have intelligent producers and contributors to the economy rather than gap-toothed drooling retards who imagine how cool it must have been in Eden living with dinosaurs while asking customers if they want fries with that.
What I don’t get about Lee at right thinking is he supports Bush, know fullwell that Bush supports the ID crowd. Personally I think that “cool Kids” vote republican so a lot of people vote repub even though they disagree with the policies.
Lee wants to be different than other right-wingers, so he selects areas where he honestly disagrees and toes the line on others.
Everything is better than the ‘liberal’ alternative…if Republicans are caught doing something, or guilty of instilling a failed policy, he’ll wiggle around in that area of, ‘well if liberals had done it, things would be worse’.
The Cindy Sheehan stuff exposed him and he fliped out. To some of these people, the statistics of how many people visited their website is what it’s all about. With Lee the desire is to leverage the right-wing bloger numbers, and on issues where he’s conflicted, play both sides as best as he can until the story passes.
You nailed it right there. Lee is nothing more than an idea pimp. He’ll pimp whatever ideas earn him the most “capital” with his narrow-minded cast of followers. He cares only for increasing the number of visitors to his site. His politics follow the views of his visitors (minus the occassional troll).
Maybe someday he will be sitting side by side with Rush Limbaugh in a drug treatment center talking about the good old days? One can only hope.
I don’t know if you were privy to this whole meltdown…but you might find some of it interesting. Concerning my bannishment from RTFTLC:
http://deadissue.com/archives/2005/08/30/stormtroopers-attack/
Yeah, Lee is a first class pr*ck. He likes to talk about intellectual honesty. Intellectual honesty doesn’t sell to his crowd. They must have an enemy to attack, and progressives fit the bill for them.
I was banished as well last week. How liberating.
He was defending a brain dead military guy who was spouting off that liberals should all die. Yeah, that’s the kind of guy I want protecting my family.
Those military types are simple welfare cases. Plain and simple. If Uncle Sam wasn’t looking for cheap meat, these guys would be holding up liquor stores, or impregnating their girlfriends to collect MORE welfare benefits.
Needing to have somebody to attack is a perfect way of putting it. The admission that something is wrong in the country is only made when the matter is vague and out of the news cycle – and – a Republican isn’t obviously responsible for it. The shelf life of any issue is never more than a couple years…history, from the New Deal to 2000, is gone/doesn’t exist. Emotion and many overstated opinions, that’s how it works.
Clinton showed that economic growth, lower poverty and a government surplus are possible at the same time in America. Even with a GOP controled House and Senate…when Republicans control everything, corruption is everywhere and the only people who are better off than before are the rich.
It’s proof of the fact that he’s nothing special. To run a blog in America, yet exclude based on ideology…not profanity, hostility to others, etc…but for your ideas is an insult to the First Ammendment, downright LAZY.
Cyber-McCarthyism…because you can label someone a troll and just like that – you’re suddenly Chinese…a commie. Michael Savage likes to toss around that particular label, and it’s simply the exclusion of a point of view you don’t want to deal with by calling it a witch and burning it at the stake!
Well, now… it wouldn’t be quite accurate to say that I wasn’t profane. I’m basically a blogging chameleon. I can swear and trade insults with the best of them when needed.
I outright attacked the military guy who said that liberals should die. In my mind any person serving our country to protect the citizenry should not say that roughly 1/2 of the country should simply kill themselves or in some other way die. And of course this particular military guy was not up to any kind of intellectual sparring. I think that may be why Lee stepped in. But hey, if you can’t take the heat…
What surprises me about Lee is that he is 100% tolerant of vitriol in the name of conservative values but is not tolerant at all when liberals turn up the heat. Profanity is certainly not a strictly conservative trait. I would even argue that most of the guys on right-thinking aren’t even that good at basic insults.
Oh…so because I edited obscenities, you’re going to say that I edited Lee’s comments? I did nothing of the sort. I never edited ANY acceptable content.
But this is the right-wing I’m battling…muddy waters are expected.
Chris:
Editing out obsenities completely changes the menaing for these folks, without obsenities they would have to stick to the facts and then they will never win an argument.
I left in every single word of Lee’s neverending Sheehan psychological evaluation/ballwashing/fillabustering. Every word.
They thought I would ban his words just like he did mine, but I’m not scared of someone who disagrees with me. Lee on the other hand has the fishbowl to worry about.
Hence his version of book burning.
Why don’t you like obsenities Chris? I find them very humorous. They can be a great gauge of someone’s frustation level.
I’ve got younger relatives who might be reading this site. Aside from that, I’m really interested in debate – and for my money – including obsenities just cheapens the end product.
Political debate as it is today is just about worthless. You’ve got people on both sides citing the same information and coming to completly opposite conclusions.
I don’t believe anyone has all the facts when it comes to politics and government, so what is there to base your debate on, other than ideals which are completely subjective? In the end it seems that it comes down to agreeing to disagree.
Are you in Boston then? I noticed a few Boston references. My brother lives in Boston.
You two sound pathetic. Grow up.
Yea – I live in Braintree, was born in Weymouth (both southern suburbs of Boston). Alaska to Boston, quite a distance! What’s it cost for him to visit home?
‘Quit Yer Griping’ – it is what it is…everyone wants to be a celebrity, and the invention of weblogs has convinced some (Lee and others) that a number of hits equals just that. It doesn’t.
Chris how many jobs do you have?
😉
The last time I was visiting my brother I asked the guy who worked in the airport video store where he lived and such… he told me he lived in a 2 bedroom condo in Dorcester (which my co-worker here told me is kinda slummy) that cost over $300,000. He said he worked 2 jobs, and his roommate worked 2 jobs. Crazy!
You can actually get to Alaska fairly cheaply. Alaska Airlines just had a round trip web special from Anchorage to Boston for $459. My brother hasn’t come home yet, so it hasn’t cost him a thing 😉
When I was there I thought that Marblehead would be a great place to live… if I was a brazillionaire.
‘Quit Yer Griping’… you’re a real piece of work. And I mean that in a good way.
